Spotted Orange Leaf Beetle - Paropsisterna 8-maculata

FAMILY CHRYSOMELIDAE

This page contains pictures and information about Spotted Orange Leaf beetles that we found in the Brisbane area, Queensland, Australia.

Body length 10mm

This Leaf Beetle look very similar to the I-Mark Leaf Beetle. When look very carefully, we believe they are difference species. They may just mimicking each other. Pictures were taken in Alexandra Hill during early summer.

We also found the Leaf Beetle in Karawatha Forest during mid summer. It was on the new shot of a young gum tree.

The above pictures were taken in Karawatha Forest during October. The beetle was running away in the stem when we took its picture. The beetle ran very fast. We looked around and did not find any larvae or eggs on the plant.

The above two pictures were taken in Karawatha Forest during December. We always found this beetle wandering alone.

This species looked very similar to the Paropsisterna 8-maculata species which is only found in PNG. We believed they could be very close related. Chris Reid sent us email and confirmed the ID.
