Pittosporum Beetle - Lamprolina perplexa

FAMILY CHRYSOMELIDAE

This page contains pictures and information about Pittosporum Leaf beetles of Genus Lamprolina that we found in the Brisbane area, Queensland, Australia.

Male 10mm, female 15mm

We found quite a number of them on one small plants in early summer in Macgregor bush. Their wing-covers are shiny dark blue in colour. The thorax and head are brownish yellow with yellow legs. Their antennae and feet are dark blue. When disturbed, they slide down across the leaf surface and drop onto the ground. Sometimes before landing on the ground, they fly and disappear in the mid air.
