Metalmark Moths - Family Choreutidae

This page contains pictures and information about Metalmark Moths in family Choreutidae that we found in the Brisbane area, Queensland, Australia.

Moths in this family are from very small to small size. They usually have the metallic colours on broad wings and are active during the day. They rest with their wings raised and curled. They walk with rapid jerky style. If disturbed, they are readily to take off.

The caterpillars feed on leaves in silky shelter, although some are leaf-miner, seed feeder and some are stem borers. They pupate in complex silk cocoon on leaf of food plant.

We found only one species in this family.
