Body length 10mm
Golden-tailed Sugar Ants are black in colour with a golden abdomen. The body colour scheme looks very similar to the very common species Golden Spiny Ants, which are also commonly found on large gum tree trunk.

Usually a few of them were found running slowing on large tree trunk of smooth bark gumtree.
