Subfamily Formicinae
This page contains pictures and information about Strobe Ants that we
found in the Brisbane area, Queensland, Australia.

- Body length 6mm
-
- They are usually called the Strobe Ants because of their rapid and jerking
movement.
-

-
- Those ants run rapidly with short, jerky motions. They have large eyes on
top edges of their head, with good vision. Their body is bright orange
brown in colour with black. They can be hunting individually on floor or on
tree trunk.
-

-
- They build a small nest on ground with one small hole as entry, hardly be
noticed.
-

-
-
- Here we would to thank Wayne Roberts for sending us email to correct the
common name we used for this ant.
