Wattle Cup caterpillar - Calcarifera ordinata

Caterpillar 30mm
 
We often find this caterpillar on Acacia wattle leaves. The caterpillar is bright yellow with blue green and orange colours. There are a number of tubercles around its body.

The adult moth is creamy brown in colour with lines of dots on forewings. We did not find any yet.

Length 10mm
 
Above pictures were taken in Karawatha Forest during mid summer. We believe this is the young version of this caterpillar.

We had tried to rear this caterpillar once without success. The caterpillars fully grew but with unknown problems on making the cup cocoon. We might not have put them in the right pupate enviroment of did not supply suitable materials.
