Grey Hairy Tachinid Fly - Phorocera sp.

Family Tachinidae

This page contains pictures and information about Grey Hairy Tachinid Flies that we found in the Brisbane area, Queensland, Australia.

The Grey Hairy Tachinid Flies are parasitic in Lepidoptera (moth and butterfly).
Followings are pictures of different Tachinid flies with grey hairy body. Thy are 8-12mm in body length. They look similar but may be different species. When we raised moth and butterfly caterpillars, there are quite often come out those flies instead of moths/butterflies.
