| Diurnal Predatory Katydid - Austrophlugis malidupaFamily TETTIGONIIDAEThis page contains pictures and information about the Diurnal Predatory Katydids that we found in the Brisbane area, Queensland, Australia. The Diurnal Predatory Katydids are also known as Swayers.
Notice the tympana (the hearing organs) on its spiny front legs. We once saw this wingless nymph together with the adult on the same leaf. It looks the same as the adults except it is smaller and no wings. We also found this wingless nymph on red flowers in Brisbane Botanic Garden. Later in Wishart Outlook, we found this Predatory Katydid with well developed ovipositor but poorly developed wings.
